Bourne Town Meetings

What’s happening in Bourne government — Select Board, School Committee, Planning, Finance, and Town Meeting. Show up. Speak up. This is how Bourne has governed itself since it became a town in 1884.

Bourne runs on Town Meeting — the purest form of self-government in America, where residents, not politicians, set the budget and make the rules. Our Annual Town Meeting is held in May. The meetings below are open to the public. The single most effective thing any resident can do is walk into the room.

Select Board
Five members
Five elected members, with an appointed Town Administrator under the town charter. Generally meets twice a month — agendas on the town site.
Annual Town Meeting
Every May
The warrant — every article the town will vote on — is posted by the Town Clerk ahead of the meeting. Read it before you go.
Boards & Committees
Planning, Finance, Schools
Most of what changes a town happens at board meetings nobody attends. Seats open every year — tell us if you would serve.
