Aptucxet 1627 · Set Off From Sandwich 1884 · Open Town Meeting Ever Since

Bourne’s first settlers came here to trade, and its townspeople left Sandwich to govern themselves. We’re fighting to keep Bourne a place where the people — not the bureaucracy — still decide.

What We Stand For

Country & Heritage

A strong sense of pride in our country and our heritage, and America’s enduring role as leader of the free world.

Government Closest to the People

Government “of, by, and for the people” that minimizes its intervention in citizens’ lives — promoting individual responsibility, initiative, and free enterprise.

Family, Character & Integrity

The strengthening and defense of the family, and government grounded in good character and personal integrity.

Read our full Mission, Vision, and the Republican Oath that guides the committee.

We are the Bourne Republican Town Committee. Our members come from every village in town — Buzzards Bay, Sagamore, Sagamore Beach, Bournedale, Pocasset, Cataumet, Monument Beach and Gray Gables — and from every walk of life, united in our commitment to the Constitution and to electing Republican candidates for local, county, state and national office. All Republicans and Independents are welcome. Upcoming events are listed above and on the network calendar. Want to know what’s happening in Town government? See our Town Meetings page.

The seal of the Town of Bourne carries two dates: Manomett 1627, and Incorporated April 2nd, 1884.

— In 1627 Plymouth Colony opened its first trading post at Aptucxet, on the Manomet River, where Dutch traders from New Amsterdam sailed in to do business. Two and a half centuries later the villages of western Sandwich voted to leave it and run their own affairs by their own town meeting. Commerce and self-government: that is the whole story of Bourne, and it still is.
